The Philodendron Moonlight, also known as Philodendron 'Moonlight' or Philodendron 'Prince of Orange', is a striking cultivar appreciated for its vibrant foliage. Here’s an image of what it typically looks like:

Care Tips for Philodendron Moonlight:

  1. Light: Philodendron Moonlight thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some morning sun but avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. In lower light conditions, the growth may slow down, and the vibrant yellow-green color may fade.

  2. Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist during the growing season (spring and summer). Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. In winter, reduce watering but don’t let the soil dry out completely.

  3. Humidity and Temperature: Philodendron Moonlight appreciates higher humidity levels. Mist the leaves occasionally or place the plant on a humidity tray. It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C) and should be protected from drafts and sudden temperature changes.

  4. Soil: Plant in well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture. A mix formulated for houseplants or tropical plants works well. You can also add perlite or orchid bark for better drainage.

  5. Fertilization: Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength during the growing season. Reduce feeding in winter when growth slows down.

  6. Pruning: Trim yellow or damaged leaves regularly to promote healthy growth and maintain the plant’s appearance. You can also prune to control its size and encourage bushier growth.

  7. Repotting: Repot Philodendron Moonlight every 1-2 years in spring into a slightly larger pot with fresh potting mix. This allows room for growth and replenishes nutrients in the soil.

  8. Propagation: Propagate Philodendron Moonlight through stem cuttings. Take 4-6 inch cuttings with at least two nodes, remove lower leaves, and place in water or directly in moist potting mix. Keep the cuttings warm and humid until roots develop.
